New event for engineers, managers and owners featuring new products, services and education for commercial, industrial, residential and institutional facilities.
(NORWALK, Conn., July 20, 2011) – INTERPHEX announces the launch of Buildings Puerto Rico to run simultaneously with INTERPHEX Medical Devices and Latin American Supply Chain at INTERPHEX Puerto Rico 2011, October 20-21 at the San Juan Convention Center.
Buildings Puerto Rico will feature education, products and services for facility managers and other interested buyers from commercial, industrial, residential and institutional facilities. Participating companies already include Cleanseal Doors, Dupont, Fisher Safety, Fluor Corp, Goodway Technologies, Rytec Doors and Sherwin Williams.
“Goodway Technologies is exhibiting at Buildings Puerto Rico because the format will allow us to connect with potential customers by matching our industrial maintenance equipment with specific customer needs,” said Mike D’Angelo, Goodway’s Managing Director of Exports. “Our high quality equipment fits well into the INTERPHEX model, which targets the pharmaceutical industry and industrial and commercial buildings and facilities."
“Buildings Puerto Rico is a strategic extension of INTERPHEX. In the past few years, we’ve had strong representation from pharmaceutical and medical device facilities managers, and some of the product categories displayed also fulfills the needs of buildings managers, general managers, and facilities professionals from commercial, institutional, larger residential, and other industrial buildings,” said Bob Stewart, Industry Vice-President for INTERPHEX. “This year, with the launch of Buildings Puerto Rico, we’re fulfilling their buying and sourcing needs in one place by pro-actively serving all the buildings on the island.”
Buildings Puerto Rico will be supported by industry leading associations including the United States Green Building Council U.S. Caribbean Chapter, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Puerto Rico Construction Cluster.
“We are particularly excited to participate in the launch of Buildings Puerto Rico as a way to serve not only industrial facilities but all the buildings on the island including hospitals, hotels, resorts, and commercial buildings,” said Jose Maeso, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Construction Cluster. “Buildings Puerto Rico creates the ideal event and meeting place for all the Construction Cluster members.”
The USGBC U.S. Caribbean chapter hopes to enable participants to understand their role and potential as change agents in the Puerto Rico market. “Building owners and operators are under internal and external pressure to continually improve energy and water performance, meet or exceed environmental Codes and regulations, and provide a safe, healthful environment for people to live, work and play – all within increasingly restrictive operational budgets,“ said Vincent Pieri, AIA LEED AP, Board Member of the USGBC U.S. Caribbean chapter. “Buildings Puerto Rico will enable participants to understand how the USGBC U.S. Caribbean chapter members and partners are working to transform the Caribbean building market so that sustainable building practices become the standard practice.”
The EPA will lead educational sessions on energy conservation initiatives and management and hold an EPA Sustainability Panel Discussion to promote the Energy Star program that provides small businesses with technical support, tools, and unbiased information for energy efficiency and national and local recognition for achieving excellence.
In 2010, INTERPHEX Puerto Rico was attended by more than 250 exhibiting companies and 3,800 pharmaceutical and biotech manufactures and medical device industry professionals within Puerto Rico as well as the greater Caribbean region. Its sponsors include INDUNIV, ISPE and the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association, and its Advisory Board includes members from Novartis, CooperVision, Pfizer, Roche Diagnostics, Lilly del Caribe, Stryker, Medtronic, Jacobs, PR Tec, MediSearch, ISPE Puerto Rico Chapter, PRMA, PRIDCO and INDUNIV.
